The mission of the Autism Society is to promote lifelong access and opportunities for persons within the autism spectrum and their families, to be fully included, participating members of their communities through advocacy, public awareness, education, and research related to autism.
BAS is a state agency within the PA Department of Public Welfare working to meet the growing need for quality services that support individuals with ASD and their families. Primary initiatives include the Adult Autism Waiver, the Adult Community Autism Program (ACAP), and the establishment of Regional ASERT Centers.
Their goals are: to secure the services and supports necessary to sustain the participation of adults with autism in the normal round of adult life. And to enable adults with autism to form households apart from their parents.
