- Autism Society
The mission of the Autism Society is to promote lifelong access and opportunities for persons within the autism spectrum and their families, to be fully included, participating members of their communities through advocacy, public awareness, education, and research related to autism. - PA Bureau of Autism Services (BAS)
- BAS is a state agency within the PA Department of Public Welfare working to meet the growing need for quality services that support individuals with ASD and their families. Primary initiatives include the Adult Autism Waiver, the Adult Community Autism Program (ACAP), and the establishment of Regional ASERT Centers.
- Autism Living and Working
- Their goals are: to secure the services and supports necessary to sustain the participation of adults with autism in the normal round of adult life. And to enable adults with autism to form households apart from their parents.
- ASCEND Group Inc.
- ASCEND, the Asperger Syndrome alliance for Greater Philadelphia, holds meetings in Delaware, Chester and Montgomery counties. Support/information gathering meetings (for family members and caregivers of both children and adults) are free of charge. Families affected by Asperger Syndrome and similar diagnoses are welcome. Speaker meetings ($5 for non-members) are held in Delaware County bi-monthly and all are welcome. - Chester County ASCEND meetings take place every third Wednesday of the month, 9:30-11:30 am, at Grove United Methodist Church, 490 West Boot Road, in West Chester. Chapter Coordinator: Barb Sullivan (610-701-0466 or barbas@erols.com).
- Delaware County ASCEND meetings take place on the second Tuesday of each month (except July and August), 7:30 pm, at Grace Chapel, which is located at Eagle and Darby Roads in Havertown. Chapter coordinator: Beth Zuckowski (610-789-7360 or mamazuk@hotmail.com).
- Montgomery County ASCEND meetings take place every other month on the fourth Wednesday, 7:30 pm, at the Parenting Center at Abington, 1130 Old York Road, in Abington. Chapter coordinator: Deanna Bosley (215/885-6744 dlbosley@comcast.net).
- Families of adults with AS/HFA and similar diagnoses hold ASCEND chapter meetings on the first Saturday of every month, 10 am to noon. Group members include parents, adult siblings, spouses, and partners. (Parents/siblings and spouses/partners break out into separate groups.) This group offers a private listserv to ASCEND members. Meetings are held at the Montgomery County Human Services Center, 1430 DeKalb Street, Norristown, PA 19401, in Classrooms A&B (New Horizons will then meet at 12n in Classrooms A&B and the "Spouses/Partners of" group will meet at 12n in Classroom C).
