National Autism Awareness Month (NAAM)
APRIL IS AUTISM AWARENESS MONTH
SPREAD AUTISM AWARENESS IN YOUR SCHOOL
The Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the Autism Society of America helps to spread Autism Awareness by providing Autism Awareness Puzzle Ribbons to Pennsylvania schools in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia Counties.
WHY DO WE DISTRIBUTE PUZZLE RIBBONS?
When you wear this ribbon it will show your support for individuals with autism and help raise autism awareness. The puzzle pattern of the Autism Awareness Ribbon reflects the mystery and complexity of autism. The different colors and shapes represent the diversity of the people and families living with the disorder. The brightness of the ribbon signals hope – hope through research and in the increasing awareness of people like you.
GET YOUR SCHOOL INVOLVED!
April is Autism Awareness Month. Nominate your school so that they can receive ribbons for every student and staff member at your school! The Chapter distributes Autism Awareness Ribbons to help start or compliment awareness activities in schools. Schools may receive the ribbons already assembled. They can also receive the materials to make their own ribbons. Assembling the ribbons makes a great service or vocational project. We would like to hear from you! Schools may send pictures or letters explaining how their school spread awareness to the Chapter at the address on the nomination form. They may be published in our ASA Chapter NEWSLETTER. Items received before April 22 will be displayed at Autism Awareness Day at the Philadelphia Zoo on April 27, 2008.
To register your school for the current year Puzzle Ribbon Campaign, you need to download the request form (105 KB), complete it and mail your application to pattirobpatti@comcast.net or Patti Erickson, 536 Lawndale Ave., King of Prussia, Pa 19406.
